Anti-aging | Wrinkles | Collagen loss | Hyperpigmentation
One of the keys to having beautiful skin is collagen, the single most abundant protein in your body. And one of the keys to stimulating collagen to restore the wholesomeness of your face is with a facial. But not just any facial. Laser facial treatment goes beyond just cleansing and moisturizing your skin – it also gets rid of hyperpigmentation, evens out skin texture, and leaves your skin positively glowing.
What Is A Laser Facial?
A laser facial – or laser resurfacing – surpasses the conventional facial. It is a safe and highly effective way to stimulate collagen and refine skin tone. At Glamoi Med Spa, we offer laser and light facials that take the results to the next level, reducing facial wrinkles and skin irregularities, including blemishes and even acne scars. The technique involves directing short, concentrated, pulsating beams of light on the skin to precisely remove irregular skin, layer by layer.
There are two types of lasers commonly used for resurfacing facials. Carbon dioxide (CO2) laser resurfacing emits short, pulsed light energy. The continuous beams are delivered in a scanning pattern that remove thin layers of skin with minimal damage. This an effective method for addressing wrinkles, scars, warts, enlarged oil glands, among other conditions with a recovery time of just two weeks.
The other type is erbium laser resurfacing , which is designed to remove surface-level and moderately deep lines and wrinkles on your hands, neck, or chest, as well as your face. The chief benefit of erbium laser resurfacing is that it results in minimal burning of surrounding tissue, so recovery often takes just one week. However, both lasers vaporize skin cells that are damaged at the surface level.
Are You a Good Candidate for a Laser Resurfacing?
A laser facial is a good solution if:
- You have fine lines or wrinkles along your forehead or around your eyes or mouth.
- You have shallow acne scars.
- You have nonresponsive skin after a facelift.
You may not be a good candidate for a laser facial if you have acne or very dark skin.
How Does a Laser Facial Treatment Work?
Depending on your needs, your esthetician will either treat individual wrinkles around your eyes, mouth, or forehead, or your entire face. If treating small areas, the esthetician will numb those areas with a local anesthetic and sedate you, if necessary. If your whole face is being treated, you may receive general anesthesia.
If only parts of your face are being treated the procedure should take about 30 to 45 minutes. A full-face treatment, however, may take up to two hours.
Once the procedure is over, the treated area will be bandaged. Twenty-four hours later, you will need to clean the treated area and apply an ointment to prevent any scab formation. If subsequent treatments are needed, they are typically conducted every 4-8 weeks.
