What Is Microneedling With PRP?

Micro needling, sometimes also called collagen induction therapy, is a type of facial used to combat the signs of aging. It involves the use of very fine needles to prick the skin to stimulate the production of collagen. PRP therapy is used to treat certain injuries, medical conditions, and cosmetic concerns, including wrinkles, acne scars, and signs of aging.

What to Expect With a PRP Facial

During micro needling with PRP – a PRP facial – your blood will be drawn and processed in order to obtain a PRP solution naturally high in growth factors and healing potential. Platelets are small, solid parts of your blood that help the blood to clot and stimulate new cell growth. Platelets are obtained by drawing some of your own blood, spinning it in a centrifuge to separate the platelets from the rest of the blood, which results in a concentrated solution of platelets. This solution is then introduced into your skin at the site you’re looking to heal to supercharge cellular turnover. Because your own blood is applied to your face in this procedure, it is sometimes called a “vampire facial.”

The entire process is usually completed within an hour, which includes the time it takes to prepare the PRP solution. There is minimal downtime necessary after the procedure. Most clients experience a slight redness on the face for up to a week.
